In 1860 George West published a poem describing the Downham Hall Estate titled "A Ramble over the Downham Estate". It is rather long (11 pages) and does ramble on . We were given a copy when we moved to the village and the scans are included below.

Note the last page is correct. The title reflects the next page in the collection.

We were contacted by Sue Hartga in 2013 with an offer of a copy of the poem. (As it turns out we already had a better copy). She came across it in 1976 when she was writing her thesis. Her copy was typed out by hand!!. Neither of us know the orig of the publication.
