V.E. Day, Monday 8th May 1995

Chris Smart, Colin Ashton and friends had made and set up the beacon on the Pill Box which stood along the pathway of Cherry Hill and would be part of a chain of beacons around Britain to mark V.E.Day.

It was a great day in the Village too, with street parties and a social evening in the Village Hall, ending with the beacon being lit on Cherry Hill which burned fiercely, lighting up the night sky. With the church bells ringing all around, it was truly a day to remember.
