The Maltings And Mill House

When the Mill was a working concern, the Maltings and Mill House were also owned by the Parker family and the Maltings was used as storage etc. for the Mill.

Today, The Maltings houses the Head Office of Willhire Vehicle Rentals which was first started up by Roger Williams in 1964 with just one mini-car. In those days, it operated from Mill House which is situated next door and is now a private dwelling. (A complete history of the Mill House is available in Mildenhall Museum). After numerous changes of management, Willhire was taken over by Arriva plc in 1998 and now has a fleet of over 2000 vehicles. The old Willhire bus pictured was only recently sold and was still in use for various occasions including the Barton Mills Scarecrow Festival of 1999.
