Those who have gone on previous 22villages trips have always said how useful
these evenings are. This will be the final one we run via the 22villages
initiative, so I hope to see a good turnout! Those villages that book in
advance (via Joe) will have information and documents relating to their
village laid out on the night. So
book now!!!
Moyses
Hall, Wed
13 Oct
Another great turnout with 19 enthusiastic people from
villages including, Tuddenham, Santon Downham, Wangford, Lakenheath, Moulton,
Mildenhall, and Red Lodge. Much was learnt about the history of Moyses Hall
and also artifacts from every village attending were on display. Cameras were
available and many used the opportunity to photograph their communities
exhibits to help illustrate their articles on their website.
Anti-virus software
Don't Panic!!! I came across a FREE anti-virus utility that is installed as an
integral part of your Web browser. My advice is that if you have no virus
protection on your PC that you consider downloading this, as any protection is
better than none. Support is offered for Internet Explorer, Netscape,
WebSurfer and America Online. The program activates when a file is downloaded
from your browser. Scans are performed on programs, .Zip files and Word
documents. ViruSafe WEB is very easy to use and provides a measure of
protection against the most likely source of computer viruses, it is available
from

Another
22villages Resource for you - The OED
The Oxford English Dictionary is now available to all participating
communities via email! As an example Santon Downham came across the word 'advowson'
and were keen to find out its origins and meaning. An email to
OED@22villages.org
came back with a 2 page answer! It was first used in...
1297 R. Glouc. 471 Eni striuing..betuene a lewede &
a clerc, vor holi churche thing, As vor voweson of churche.
and meant
"The ‘patronage’ of an
ecclesiastical office or religious house" Special
thanks to Sarah from Cavenham for providing this service to the 22villages
community.
This is being hosted by
Dalham, at their village hall and the guest speaker is David Cleveland,
Director of East Anglian film Archive. Please confirm early that a
representative from your community will be attending as David has offered to
find film archive relating to those villages/towns that are coming on the
night.
