Can YOU host our Dec Open Meeting?
We urgently need a village/town to offer to host our Wed 15 Dec Open Meeting. We have already booked an excellent speaker David Cleveland, Director of East Anglian film archive but as yet have no venue. Also offers of hosting the Feb and April 2000 meetings would be appreciated.

Arts Festival 2000
If your community is interested being part of an Arts Festival in Forest Heath in the year 2000, there is an open meeting at the Council Offices, Mildenhall on Mon 13th September 7.30pm, all are welcome (juggling balls optional). Please RSVP to Lizzi Cocker, Arts and Heritage Assistant 01638 719217.

OED Another Resource to help you
Inside the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) are over fifty-nine million words, close to 300,000 entries, and more than two million illustrative quotations. Since publication of the full Dictionary in 1928, the OED has been regarded as the most authoritative and comprehensive English language dictionary in the world. ArtAtac Design have offered a licensed copy of the OED on CD Rom (rrp £300) on long term loan. We are looking for a village to host it as a resource for the whole 22village community. Villages would then contact you by email asking for definitions and first used information. Contact Joe for more information.

Another village on the web!
For inspiration on what your community could achieve with regard to recording history on the web, check out http://www.maidenbower.org.uk/history/  This is Maidenbower village in Sussex and it contains some interesting and very readable information and ideas. The site won best community web site in the recent UK Web Site of the Year.
