G
etting
images into a computer can be difficult, especially if your team have no
access to a scanner. So we are looking for a volunteer village to host a new
flatbed colour scanner and then make it available as a resource for all other
villages. The way it will work is that if you have a photo/document/drawing
you would like to appear in your chapter or website you would contact the host
villager and arrange to bring it over. The photo would be scanned, saved on a
new floppy disk (to protect from viruses) and then given back to you. This can
then be sent to Joe for publishing. The host villager will have the scanner
installed for them and full training and support given.
What ALL villages get out of this is a local
scanning facility that is conveniently available to you. It is hoped that each
village will take on a small additional task such as this, to the benefit of
everyone. If you have an idea of what else could be made available in this
shared manner please let Joe know.
Official Launch List
I will be contacting each village over the
next week requesting a list of attendees. If you have this already perhaps you
could save my phone bill and email me - thanks!
