24/05/99

For the visit this Wednesday (26th May, 7.30pm) to the Bury Records Office. We already have villagers from Kentford, Santon Downham, Tuddenham, Cavenham, Moulton, Dalham and Red Lodge, so don't miss out, send someone from your village along. The Records Office has kindly agreed to support the 22village project by offering 20% off the cost of photocopying.

Countryside Heritage Ramble - Sat 19th June
Roger Goulding, Forest Heath's expert on Nature Conservation, countryside issues, rights of way, flora and fauna will be at Tuddenham for a couple of hours, meeting at the White Hart at 1pm Sat 19th June. Roger will be on hand to answer any questions on the above and help with the 'Year in the Life' section of your village chapter. Roger has asked if villagers could provide some questions in advance (to Joe by 12th June) to ensure you make the most of his visit. Other villages are most welcome

Wired for Sound (and Vision)
We now have minidisc audio players (for recording aural history) and digital cameras (capable of still photographs and short movies). These are currently being used by the pilot village (Tuddenham) but will be available for your village once the project starts in July/August. You may like to start to think about who and what you would like to record.

No Fixed Abode
We have pencilled in a date of Wed 18th August, 7.30pm for the next bi-monthly open meeting, a guest speaker to tell us about Tithe Maps and The Enclosures has already been booked, BUT we now need a village to offer to host the meeting. Offers please to Joe (ps we will bring our own biscuits!)

"What film archivists in 2050 would have wanted us to record!!"
This is the title of a talk by David Cleveland, Director of East Anglian film Archive at our Christmas Open Meeting on Wed 15th December, 7.30pm. If your village would like to make its hall available to host this meeting please let Joe know.
