Beck Row has now joined the online community and also with a new presence at www.22villages.org is Eriswell, who have a first by creating a 3D version of their church. You can walk around it, zoom in and even fly over the top. It was created by taking a series of ordinary photographs of the church from different angles and then using VRML technology to recreate it.  This is still under construction but can be viewed via the web site, clicking here or clicking on the picture opposite (you may need to download and install a viewer, a link is on the page).

Next Open Meeting Thu 4 May 7.30pm FHDC Offices
Freckenham has arranged a speaker for our May Meeting.  Dr Colin Pendleton, County Sites & Monuments Officer, has kindly agreed to come and talk about his fascinating job assessing and recording all artefacts found in Suffolk.  He will tell us how we can access their files and what procedures we should use regarding finds of our own; he will also bring along illustrations of items found in each of our parishes. So it should be really interesting and informative.  Please note the venue will be Forest Heath Council Offices, Mildenhall and the date Thursday 4th May at 7.30 pm.

Suffolk Local History Council
We were invited to have a stand at Suffolk Local History Council  "Societies Day 2000" at Mendlesham Community Centre on Sat 25 March. Armed only with a PC, handouts and an unfeasibly large amount of wires and extension leads, our coordinator, Joe Thompson attended. The reaction was excellent with much praise centred on the excellent work all communities have done so far. I feel that many local authorities will now be asked why the 22villages project is not available in their district!

24hour Museum Article
We were the subject of a recent piece in the 24 hour Museum's online magazine. This site aims to highlight the very best heritage based online resources, so 22villages is extremely pleased to have been featured at this early stage in our project.  To read the article click here.

Have Your Say!
We have been invited by the FHDC councilors and committee responsible for funding and instigating the 22villages project to give a short presentation at their next meeting. If you or your community would like to give your views on the project (and its future) this would be an ideal opportunity. Please send an email to fhdc@22villages.org
, write direct to Tony Bass, Forest Heath Leisure, District Offices, College Heath Road, Mildenhall SUFFOLK IP28 7EY or phone 01638 719217 and leave a message (by 7th April). The more you can let them know your views, the greater opportunity to continue getting their support in the future.

22villages Databases
Freckenham have led the way in making their parish records available online. Unlike similar records online the 22villages version can be filtered and searched on producing the results dynamically. Sandie Geddes has offered to help any community that would like to achieve a similar result and the project can provide the necessary, easy to use, software. Sandie can be contacted at freckenham@22villages.org
